DA MOTORSPORTS SETS THEIR SIGHTS HIGH FOR ANOTHER GREAT YEAR IN THE NASCAR WHELEN SERIES
After a good year where DA Motorsports was able to help their young rookie driver Taylor Doggett, capture the coveted ‘Rookie Of The Year’ award, DA Motorsports has signed on another young talented driver by the name of Aaron Burnett. “The thought and dream of being a driver in the NASCAR series has always been a dream of mine since I was a very young child”, says Burnett. “When I was very young we lived in Alpharetta, Georgia and then my father took a different job and we moved to DeBary, Florida. I was so excited because we were only about twenty miles from Daytona Speedway, the biggest NASCAR race of them all! I couldn’t wait to go!” Aaron Burnett comes from a racing background in Go Karts where the young seventeen year old quickly excelled and began to dominate his way to the top in the state of Florida. It certainly didn’t take long for people to realize that this man had a real talent for driving and may be able to let those talents take him further in the racing world. Aaron and his father, Tim, made the trip up from Florida this past December to do some testing with at the DA Motorsports owned, South Hampton Motor Speedway tri-oval. “What we all saw was a young man with load of talent. Aaron Burnett had raced Go Karts and had never sat in the seat of a race car before that day. This young man showed incredible talent. He was able to hit his same line and run very consistent lap times on each pass. That kind of talent just doesn’t come along every day.” Said team owner Dave Atkinson. “Before the crew loaded the car back into the hauler and packed up for the day to head back to the race shop, we all discussed it and it was unanimous, we wanted this guy so we offered him the opportunity on the spot. We didn’t need to go back and look at the video.”
Aaron Burnett has since signed on with DA Motorsports and has moved from his home state of Florida here to Virginia. He has been in the race shop every day learning and working on every inch of the race car getting ready for the upcoming season. Crew Chief Chris Hairfield and Car Chief Cody Jones has taken Aaron down to South Boston Speedway, the main track he will be racing, for practice to get him as much seat time as possible before the first race of the season. One Aaron’s first outing, he was turning lap times in the car that are considered very good actual race lap times. We are all very excited to have Mr. Aaron Burnett on board with DA Motorsports and we look forward to watching this fine young man mature into a outstanding race driver.
